Catering & Hospitality Food and Beverage Level 2 Apprenticeship at Wigan & Leigh College

Course description

This Apprenticeship programme provides work based training with additional support from the College. Do you want to excel at Customer Service? If the answer is yes to this question, then a Level 2 qualification in Food & Beverage Service will give you the skills to provide excellent customer service skills.

Course content

The course has four part: Part 1 A food and beverage qualification, Part 2 A technical certificate, Part 3 A food safety certificate (if required) and Part 4 Employee rights and responsibility at work.

Entry requirements

A good general education.


You will be continuously assessed throughout the duration of the course. You will complete a portfolio of practical competence and the technical certificate and functional skills will be assessed by on-line tests.

Future opportunities

This qualification is industry recognised and can lead to the Level 3 Food & Beverage Service qualification.

Further information

In the role of food service a high standard of personal hygiene is expected. You will also require employment to sign up as an apprentice.

    • Our Parson's Walk Centre houses a wide range of vocational courses and provides a unique and exciting atmosphere.

      The Centre features the award winning Wheel restaurant, together with other outstanding facilities that provide hands on work experience including the Image Centre, Florist Shop and Travel Shop.

      In addition, our classrooms offer a comfortable and professional working environment which is exemplified by our £20,000 state-of-the-art Apple Mac suite.

      This Centre also houses the College's largest Learning Resource Centre to provide help and support to all students in the use of the library and IT facilities. Our dedicated team of staff are on hand to provide assistance with electronic books and databases, information skills and one-to-one sessions. Laptops, iPads and Samsung tablets are just a selection of the range of facilities available.

      This Centre is completed with our Employment Services team who are here to offer you a personal information, advice and guidance session to identify areas of development and agree goals to set you on your path to gaining employment.
