Performing Arts BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma at Wigan & Leigh College

Course description

This course will appeal to anyone who has an interest in the Performing Arts, is practically minded and sees themselves on the stage as a dancer, an actor or both. Also if you enjoy backstage work or stage management this could be the course for you.

Course content

You will study a variety of modules in both dance and drama. Although this course is predominantly practical, it will involve some written work looking at the performing arts business or the history of dance and drama. In addition you will have the opportunity to be involved in a dance show, a production and workshops/performances outside college.

Entry requirements

GCSE TARIFF

A minimum of 5 A*-C/ 9-4 GCSE subjects or equivalent including maths or English

You will also need to successfully pass an audition audition.

Assessment

Continual internal assessment of assignments, performances and a major project.

Further information

You may also take part in schools tours, theatre trips, professional companies, teaching workshops, working with the local council on issue based work such as road safety, drink driving etc. and performing at rugby matches as pre-match entertainment.
