Art and Deisgn - Photography A level at Langley Park School for Girls
This course offers an opportunity for a number of students to pursue their interest in Photography; either for its own sake, to enter Art foundation courses or Photography courses or as a support subject for other subjects being studied at Degree level. For example Photo Journalism, Marine Biology, Medicine, Architecture, Sport, Desktop Publishing, Book Illustration, Fashion, Camera Operators and Editing etc
The main sustaining focus of our course is black and white photography. Wet darkroom techniques are taught with a variety of experimental skills. Digital photography is taught using Digital cameras, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Light room. Integrated into the course are lighting techniques using multiple back drops. Both Digital and Analogue photography are encouraged.
We currently use Phone Cameras, Digital and Analogue SLR film cameras. However acquiring your own camera is advantageous and would benefit the more dedicated student, although this is not essential. We also like students to express themselves artistically and experiment independently. Independent learning is an important aspect of this course, backed up with tutorials from tutors and peers. During the course you will be required to supply yourself with film and quality printing paper but some will be supplied to you by the department.
Grade 6 in GCSE Art and Design or Design Technology
