Course content

'This course is for learners who are interested in studying how English is used in everyday life from speech to a wide range of texts. You will gain an insight into some the changes which have occurred in the English Language, how children manage to acquire language and how language functions daily in society. You will also create your own fiction or non-fiction text and get the chance to research a language topic of your choice. An A level in English Language will enhance your understanding of other A level subjects such as: Sociology, Law, History, Geography, Psychology, Media and Film Studies.

Entry requirements

'Learners must have;Level 5 in any English GCSE alongside standard A Level entry requirements (5 GCSEs at grade C or above)

Future opportunities

'Possible careers: journalism, the civil service, consultancy, advertising, teaching and forensic linguistics
