Unit descriptions –
A comprehensive look at a range of fundamental biology topics, most of which build on what is studied at GCSE level. There is a wide range of biological concepts studied, from plant biology to animal physiology, bioenergetics, genetics, ecology, and an increasing focus on contemporary advances and new technologies. Biology is an ever-evolving subject and this course will help show you just how amazing life is!
To be able to study biology at AS and A-level students must first have obtained at least two grade 6s in combined or separate science GCSE. A grade 6 in maths GCSE and a grade 5 in English Language are also required
Possible progression routes –
Degree level study in biology or any biology related or science-based subject. This can lead to careers in medicine, veterinary science, sport and exercise science, marine biology, ecology to name but a few!
Equipment required – Basic stationary and a scientific calculator. Purchasing a text-book or supporting revision guide is recommended (online access to the course textbook is provided).
