Games Development Level 2 at Access Creative College

Course description

This course is the perfect introduction for anyone looking to get to grips with the basics of developing computer games. You will touch on many areas of the games-building process, from games scripts through to environments, characters, animations and levels. You will work towards a final major project where you will develop a basic functioning game level.

Course content

LEARN ABOUT THE GAMES & MEDIA INDUSTRIES Understand how the industry operates.

CREATE ART FOR GAMES & MEDIA PRODUCTS Create art and animation for games and media using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.

GET EXPERIENCE AS A GAME DEVELOPER Plan, pitch, create and test a games project in GameMaker.

CREATIVE BUSINESS PRACTICE Get business savvy by creating a personal portfolio website to promote your own work as a professional.

Entry requirements

We value your creative passion and skills above all else. However, you will need to demonstrate that you are able to work at Level 2 (GCSE standard) and we will take your actual, or predicted, grades into account.

FREE for 16-18s.

Future opportunities

You will achieve a Level 2 BTEC Creative Digital Media Production Diploma which can lead to further skills development on Level 3 games and media courses.
