NCFE Level 3 Diploma for Entry to the Uniformed Services at Tameside College

Course description

This is a full time programme where you will be expected to complete 9 units of work throughout the year. Your work is assessed by your tutors and you have the opportunity to gain either pass/merit/distinction grades in each unit. In addition to this you may be required to further improve your current Maths and English grades to enhance your employability prospects and you will undertake a tutorial with your progress tutor each week, where you will get the opportunity to develop other elements such as CV writing, time management and advice on part time job opportunities.

Course content

'The course is designed to help develop the skills and qualities you would need to work in the Uniformed Services. You will experience a range of activities including classroom based learning, physical fitness training, outdoor and adventurous activities and a comprehensive work experience programme with a range of Uniformed Service organisations.Throughout the course you will study a range of topics including:Investigating EmploymentPhysical FitnessLeadershipConflict ManagementUniformed Services RoutineMap Reading & NavigationAdventurous ActivitiesGovernment, International Organisations and Media Studies

Entry requirements

'Learners are required to have 4 GCSEs at level 3 (new grading system) including equivalents and will also be required to undertake a pre-course interview and assessment day. Candidates will be expected to be enthusiastic about embarking on a career in the Uniformed Public Services and engage fully with all aspects of the course.
