Level 2 Diploma in Womens Hairdressing at Henley College Coventry

Course description

This qualification is a national requirement to become a registered hairdresser. You will study the theory of hairdressing in ’Headstart’, our fully equipped and newly refurbished commercial salon. You will also be working with members of the public to put your skills into practice.

You will be studying :

  • Colouring techniques
  • Cutting
  • Style and finish
  • Setting and dressing
  • Health and safety
  • Perming
  • Reception skills
  • Client consultation

As part of this study programme you will work towards English and Maths. This will provide you with the skills you needed to perform confidently, effectively and independently in learning,life and work. You will enjoy visits to hair and beauty exhibitions and work experience is an essential part of this study programme. You will be regularly entering competitions to improve your creative skills.

You will be assessed by assignments, online examinations and practical assessments and you will be assessed on an ongoing basis by practical observation in a simulated working environment.

You can progress to level 2 in barbering or level 3 in hairdressing or an Apprenticeship.

Entry requirements

Either completion of level 1 in Hairdressing or Beauty Therapy or a grade A- C in maths or English and a positive school report. Mature learners need to have good personal presentation and communication skills.
