Level 3 Diploma in Photography at Henley College Coventry

Course description

This course is aimed at those who have a keen interest in photography. You will be encouraged to explore many ways of seeing the world around them. By developing strong technical and creative skills and applying these to a wide range of specialist fields you will produce their own unique portfolio of images to help them begin a career in photography.

You will be studying key areas, including:

  • Studio photography
  • Advertising, fashion, portraiture
  • Location photography
  • Documentary
  • Experimental imagery
  • Art photography
  • Digital production and manipulation

Throughout the two years you will also study darkroom techniques, produce a professional photographic portfolio, design your own website to display your photographic work and complete a second year project to exhibit in a gallery. During your time on the course you will have the opportunity to undertake work experience with a professional freelance photographer, work with media organisations including local radio stations and gain experience of using a professional studio producing advertising imagery for a website. You will also have the chance to attend a range of inspirational talks given by individuals working within the media industry. Educational trips will be arranged including visits to a wide range of exhibitions.

On successful completion you may wish to progress onto a HNC/HND in Photography or a BA (Hons) degree in a relevant media area of their choice or alternatively seek employment in the exciting world of media.

Entry requirements

Four GCSEs grade C or above, including English and maths or a Level 2 Diploma with overall Merit profile in relevant subject.
