Music (double award) at The Regis School

Course description

Prepares young people for careers in the performing arts or music industry.

Provides opportunities for musicians to develop a range of skills and techniques.

Motivates learners via applied learning and assessment.

BTEC qualifications are recognised by employers and education institutions.

Provides a good progression route to more advanced qualifications.

Course content

Throughout the two year course you will complete the following units:

Ensemble music performance techniques

Professional practice in the music industry

Music Skills development

Creating a music Product

Live music events

Music performance session styles

Entry requirements

Successful completion of GCSE music (A-C) or BTEC Level 2 award in Music.

• You must be able to play a musical instrument or be able to sing

• You must be prepared to perform.

• You must be able to work independently and collaboratively.

Assessment

The course is a two year course and is equivalent to two A Levels. The new BTEC Nationals use a combination of assessment styles to enable learners to showcase their skills and application of knowledge, so they can progress to higher education or employment. There are three types of assessment: Assignments, set tasks and a written exam

Future opportunities

Students have progressed to degree programs in Music performing, song writing and Music technology at ACM, BIMM London, BIMM Brighton
