RE/Philosophy and Ethics AS/A level at Hatch End High School

Course description

If you are interested in questions about what is real and what is true, or social, religious and ethical issues, then this is the subject for you.

Course content

We will look at the origins of philosophy: why should we be moral? How can we have knowledge about the world? Followed by various religious philosophical topics including proofs for the existence of God and challenges to these arguments. We will also look at the theory behind ethical issues such as abortion, war, human rights, euthanasia and crime.

How will I be taught?

In lessons, use of i-Learning, resource packs, text books and discussion groups. Independent study will mainly be reading and written tasks.

Entry requirements

6 GCSE grades A*-C / 9-5 to include Maths & English Language at grades C+/5+.

Assessment

You will be assessed for this course at the end of Year 13 by examinations. There is no coursework for this subject,
