ICT at Mark Rutherford School

Course description

This qualification is designed for students who are interested in an introduction into the study of creating IT systems to manage and share information alongside other fields of study, with a view to progressing to a wide range of higher education courses, not necessarily in IT

Course content

The objective of this qualification is to give students the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills in IT systems, systems management and social media in business as well as data modelling and website development. This will enable learners to progress to further study in the IT sector or oth er sectors.

Entry requirements

Minimum entry requi rements apply. We also expect students to have a grade C or above in GCSE Computing or GCSE ICT or a Merit in ECDL. We would prefer students to have grade 4 in English and M aths.

Assessment

Unit 1: This unit is externally assessed by a 2 - hour written examination.

Unit 2: This unit is externally assessed by a set task. The set task will be completed under supervised conditions for 10 hours in a 1 week period.

Unit 3, 5 and 6: These unit s are internally assessed through set tasks and coursework and moderated externally.
