Unit descriptions

AS Paper - 1 involves listening and responding to spoken passages on aspects of hispanic society, artistic culture in the hispacnic world and grammar. Students will be expected to translate a passage into English. Paper 2 assesses the film studied (“El laberinto del fauno”) and grammar. Students will be expected to translate a passage into Spanish and to write a critical response to aspects such as plot, characterisation, imagery or other stylistic features of the film. Paper 3 involves a 12-14 min discussion of two sub-themes based on a stimulus cards.

A-Level - Paper 1 involves listening and responding to spoken passages on aspects of hispanic society, artistic culture in the hispacnic world and grammar. Students will also be expected to translate a passage into English and another one into Spanish. Paper 2 assesses the film studied (“El laberinto del fauno”) and one text selected from the speacification set list. Paper 3 involves a 5-6min discussion of a sub-theme based on a stimulus card as well as a 2min presentation and 9-10mn discussion of individual research project.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at 9-1 including a minimum of grade 6 in Spanish. A grade 6 in English language and literature is preferred.
