Health and Social Care Level 3 Technical Certificate at Cedars Upper School

Course description

A broad basis of study for the health and social care sector.
This qualification is designed to support progression to higher education when taken as part of a programme of study that includes other appropriate BTEC Nationals or A Levels.

Course content

Exploring and investigating topics related to working in the health or care sector.
Internal units:
 Equality, diversity and rights in health and social care
 Human growth and development
 Safeguarding in health and social care
 Communication in health and social care
 Infection prevention and control in health and social care
 Psychological perspectives in health and social care
 Sociological perspectives in health and social care
 Working in health and social care
 Reflective practice

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs 5/C graded or equivalent.


Learners must achieve:
• Nine ‘Core Mandatory’ units graded A*-D,
• One Extended Assessment covering the ‘Core Mandatory’ units externally set and externally marked
• Placement in a Real Work Environment: up to 200 hours. (min 75 hours)
