Spanish A Level at Cleeve School

Course description

Studying Spanish at A Level will develop the level of fluency of spoken and written Spanish you have achieved at GCSE and will enhance your knowledge and understanding of Spanish culture. You will reuse and extend GCSE grammar and study and discuss a range of topics and contemporary issues relevant to the societies in which Spanish is spoken. At A Level you will further develop understanding of Spanish and will have the opportunity to develop personal research skills.

Course content

Paper 1: Listening, reading and translation
Paper 2: Written response to works and translation
Paper 3: Speaking

Entry requirements

Students should have achieved Grade A at GCSE with mainly Higher Papers taken


100% examination.

Future opportunities

In a global society Spanish is a very useful language to study at a higher level. It is the third most widely spoken language in the world and many international organisations value it highly. It can be combined with almost any subject and will always give you the edge over another job applicant with similar qualifications. Many university courses allow study abroad as part of a degree through the Erasmus Scheme.
