Graphic Design A Level at Warrington & Vale Royal College

Course description

Do you love to read? Do you enjoy analysing texts? If so, this course is for you.

Course content

The course is very academic and includes an understanding of a range of literary texts including poetry, prose and drama. You should have a passion for reading and be prepared to undertake significant independent reading. You will analyse texts and literary traditions and apply your knowledge of literary analysis and critical theories to the texts studied.

Entry requirements

The minimum requirement for progression onto an A Level pathway is at least five grade 5s at GCSE, including English.

We would expect students looking to study an English Literature A Level to have a grade 5 in both GCSE English literature and English language.

We will look at each application individually and flexibly and will discuss your choice of courses.

Assessment

This is an academic course following a two year linear A Level, with terminal exams.

Will I complete work placements?

You will have the opportunity to undertake an appropriate work experience or internship. This will give you a real understanding of the world of work or career you are considering and will undoubtedly give you a competitive edge in any application or interviews. This will take place for most students in a block placement in June/July of Year 12

Are trips and residentials organised during the course?

Trips and/or enrichment activities will take place on a Wednesday each week.

    • By Rail: Anyone travelling by train should disembark at Central Station in Warrington. Our Winwick Road Campus is around a 20 minute walk along the A49 (you will pass the Warrington Wolves RLFC stadium and the Tesco supermarket on your left).

      By Bus: Warrington & Vale Royal College is easily accessible by bus from the town centre and nearby Cheshire districts. Bus numbers* 19, 20, 21, 22 from the Warrington Bus Station to Winwick Road Campus.
