ICT OCR Level 3 Cambridge Technicals at Harris Academy Battersea
The Cambridge Technical qualification in ICT is a new and innovative course that allows pupils to demonstrate academic knowledge through the exams and practical skills in the coursework units. The course takes you on a journey through the fascinating world of technology, all the way from the fundamentals of IT covering how technology works all the way through to the more technical units in cyber security which covers the dangers of hacking for businesses to the more creative product design unit where learners can create their own technology. This is a varied and exciting course which is a great foundation for anyone interested in technology and how it all works!
Year 1 units include:
- Fundamentals of IT
- Global Information
- Product Development
- The internet of everything
- Cyber Security
Year 2 units include:
- Project management
- Computer networks
- Developing a smarter planet
There will be many opportunities to engage with different IT businesses in London. This year we have worked with google, Facebook, PwC and St. Mary’s University to have trips and guest speakers for the pupils on the course.
Students often study ICT with business studies or science/maths subjects if they are interested in perusing a role in computer science in the future.
Students must have a C grade in English and maths GCSE and a keen interest in technology.
- There are three external examinations and two coursework units for the certificate course.
- There are three external examinations and eight coursework units for the diploma course.
Appropriate for undergraduate study and further study in any IT related degree including joint honours degrees such as IT and Business studies to pursue a career in any of the following fields. IT consultancy, Technology development roles, IT sales and more technical areas such as software development.
