Geography AS Level at Graveney School

Course description

The specification offers an issues-based approach to studying Geography, enabling students to explore and evaluate contemporary geographical questions and issues such as the consequences of globalisation and responses to hazards. Many of the challenges facing the world today are covered in the AS and A level specification, which makes Geography an ideal platform for 21st century careers.

Course content

Tectonic processes and hazards.
Landscape systems processes and change - river, glaciers, coasts.
Globalisation.
Shaping places: Regeneration.

Assessment

Two exams
Each exam worth 50% of the AS
Paper 1 - Tectonic processes and hazards, landscape
systems process and change.
1 hour 45 minutes - 90 marks.
Paper 2 - Globilisation and shaping places.
1 hour 45 minutes - 90 marks.
