Mathematics AS at Harris Academy Battersea

Course description

AS Maths provides students with a thorough grounding in the mathematical tools and techniques often needed in the workplace. The logic and reasoning skills developed by studying ASl Maths make sure the qualification is widely respected even in non-mathematical arenas.

Enrichment opportunities include:

  • UKMT Senior Maths Challenge
  • UKMT British Mathematical Olympiad

Most science based subjects require you to have a strong base in mathematics and it may form part of their entry requirements.

Course content

AS units include:

  • Core Mathematics Module 1
  • Core Mathematics Module 2
  • Statistics Module 1
  • Mechanics Module 1

Entry requirements

Students must gain a grade 7 or above.


Examination Board: Edexcel

The course is assessed with the following:

  • 3 AS External Exams
