Cambridge Technicals Level 3 in Health & Social Care at Wigston College
Students who are interested in caring professions, social work, teaching, psychology, child care, nursing including midwifery, sociology, elderly care or mental health care. Work can be independent and involves research skills. Discussion plays a vital role in the delivery of the course. Students who are capable of giving opinions and interpreting factual material will do well.
At level 3 Extended Certificate there are six units; 3 in year 12 and 3 in year 13: OCR Applied General Certificate in Health and Social Care  Building positive relationships [Internally assessed] Equality, diversity and rights in HSC Settings [Exam Health, safety and security in HSC [Exam] OCR Applied General Extended Certifi-cate in Health and Social Care  Anatomy and Physiology [Exam] There will be two more internally assessed units which have yet to be cho-sen. Those under consideration are: Nutrition for health, Psychology for HSC, Infection control and supporting people with learning difficulties
Students that have taken the subject at GCSE must have grade C (Single award) or above in Health and Social Care and grade 4+ in English Language.
Is the subject open to students that have not taken HSC at GCSE? - Yes Students that are new to the subject must have grade 4+ in both English Language and Maths.
