Course description

2-year Level 3 Introductory Diploma
(Equivalent to 1 A Level)
The course is designed to be a
mixture of ICT and Computing
skills, to be accessible to students
with backgrounds in either subject.
They will have the opportunity to
work on industry-relevant projects
to experience a true flavour of the
IT world. This course is suitable
for students who are interested
in pursuing Computing or ICT
at university or entering the IT
industry after school, as well as
students interested in emerging
technologies and the use of ICT in
real life business environments.

The skills learnt on the course
are transferrable to many roles in
businesses where computers are

Course content

Students will follow the Emerging
Digital Technology Practitioner
Pathway, studying:
- *Fundamentals of ICT (exam)
- *Global Information (exam)
- Virtual and Augmented Reality
(coursework)
- Internet of Everything
(coursework)
- Developing a Smarter Planet
(coursework)
 
* Units completed for 1-year
Certificate.

Entry requirements

At least a grade 4 in English
and Maths.
Previous experience of ICT
or Computing at KS4 is
recommended.

Future opportunities

Degree in a computer related
field (computer programmer,
games designer, website
developer, network technician,
IT system analyst, web designer)
or apprenticeship in industry or
careers which rely heavily on the
use of technology .
