I.B Mathematical Studies at Skinners Kent Academy

Course description

The IB DP Mathematical Studies standard level (SL) course focuses on important interconnected mathematical topics. The syllabus places more emphasis on student understanding of fundamental concepts, developing students’ mathematical reasoning and solving mathematical problems embedded in a wide range of contexts. The course is designed to offer students with varied mathematical backgrounds and abilities the opportunity to learn important concepts and techniques and to gain an understanding of a wide variety of mathematical topics, preparing them to solve problems in a variety of settings, develop more sophisticated mathematical reasoning and enhance their critical thinking.

 

Entry requirements

General Entry Requirement for The Skinners’ Kent Academy Sixth Form

Minimum of GCSE grade 5 (G5) in English and Mathematics plus 3 other GCSEs at grades 9-4 (A*-C)

Subject specific minimum entry requirements are:

Mathematical Studies: G5 in Mathematics
