Accounting A Level at Longsands Academy

Course description

Would you enjoy A Level Accounting? Consider the following:

On 21 July 2015, Hisao Tanaka resigned as CEO OF Toshiba because of an accounting scandal which was easily the most damaging of the business’ long history. Profits had been overstated by $1.2 billion over seven years.

If you want to know how this is possible or want to stop it happening again, then consider a career in forensic accounting.

Krispy Kreme, Applebee’s and Philip Morris all have chief financial officers (CFOs) who have been promoted to chief executive officers (CEOs) over the last couple years. What makes accountants good candidates for CEOs?

What is the definition of an accountant? Answer - ‘Someone who solves a problem you didn’t know you had in a way you don’t understand’.

And you thought accountants had no sense of humour. An accountant analyses and processes information which allows everyone else to do their jobs better. Does this sound like you?
