Physics AS/A2 Level at Hazelwick School

Course description

Physics is an attempt to model everything & explain the innermost workiings of the universe.  The first year is designed to broaden & deepen the level of understanding you gained at GCSE.  There is a large element of practical work.

Course content

Physics is a mathematical subject & for those students who undertake it without doing A level Mathematics additional support is available.  This will cover all the mathematics needed for the course to make sure that no student is going to under achieve due to mathematical ability.

Entry requirements

Grade 6 in Triple Science Physics or 6-6 in Combined Science.  Grade 6 in Mathematics is desireable. 


Paper 1 - 2 hr written exam + multiple choice component (34% of A level)

Paper 2 - 2 hr written exam + multiple choice component (34% of A level)

Paper 3 - 2 hr written exam (32% of A level)

Future opportunities

Physics students go on to higher education to study not only Physics & Electronics but also a wide variety of disciplines including Engineering & Medicine.

Employers are looking for numerate, analytical & problem solving skills, all of which are developed on this course.
