Sport - BTEC Level 3 Edexcel at Holmesdale School
This qualification is aimed at learners looking to progress to employment in sports performance, including coaching and participation roles. The course is designed for students who enjoy practical participation in sport and who aspire to be involved in a practical role in their chosen carer.
There are many practical elements to the course, alongside written coursework and written examinations.
Learners will study nine mandatory units:
Unit 1: Anatomy and Physiology
Unit 2: Fitness Training and Programming for Health, Sport and Well--being.
Unit 3: Professional Development in the Sports Industry
Unit 5: Application of Fitness Testing
Unit 6: Sports Psychology
Unit 8: Coaching for Performance
Unit 26: Technical and Tactical Demand of Sport
Unit 27: The Athlete's Lifestyle
Unit 28: Sports Performance Analysis
Level 4+ in English and Maths.
It is preferable that if you are currently taking Sport at Level 2, you achieve a Merit or above.
It is not essential that you have taken Sport at Level 2; however an interest in sport and a willingness to participate in practical sessions is required.
Unit 1: Anatomy and Physiology - written examination set and marked by Pearson. 1.5 hours. 90 marks.
Unit 2: Fitness Training and Programming for Health, Sport and Well-being. - A task set and marked by Pearson and completed under supervised conditions. Written submission. 60 marks.
Unit 19: Development and Provision of Sport and Physical Activity - A task set and marked by Pearson and completed under supervised conditions. Written submission. 60 marks.
