Accounting AAT CERTIFICATE Level 2 Newhaven Campus at Sussex Downs College

Course description

This course is the entry qualification for the AAT Diploma in Accounting Level 3. It develops skills in basic double entry bookkeeping and accounting, computerised accounting systems, basic costing techniques, and an understanding of the accounting function within an organisation. You will study the following areas: 1. Bookkeeping Transactions2. Bookkeeping Controls3. Working Effectively in Finance4. Elements of Costing5. Using Accounting Software (Sage)

Entry requirements

You will need to meet our standard entry requirements.

You will need at least 4 GCSE's (or equivalent) at grade C (5) or higher. You should have either a GCSE in English and Mathematics at grade C or Key/Functional Skills level 2 in Communication and Numeracy.

Assessment

All assessments are computer based tests and projects which will be scheduled by Sussex Downs College but set and marked by the AAT. Assessments are time limited and take place at Sussex Downs College under controlled conditions.

Future opportunities

This course can provide a pathway to the AAT Diploma in Accounting Level 3.

Further information

After completing the AAT Diploma in Accounting Level 3 students can progress to the AAT Diploma in Accounting Level 4.

Suitably employed students can also apply for a funded or part-funded apprenticeship in accounting on a day release basis. Applicants who wish to pursue this route but are not employed, will be advised on, and supported with, job applications.Please ask for further information on the apprenticeship route.
