Level 3 Business at Leeds City College
Want to work your way up the career ladder to be the next big thinker, or even run your own business? Our Business Faculty is focused on offering courses that cater to the needs of employers and enhance the skills offered to those going onto work in the sector.
You will gain a broad understanding of key elements including marketing, accounting and web design strategy. You will also experience realistic workplace situations, activities and demands through projects and assignments.
You will cover a selection of topics:
- The Business Environment
- Business Resources
- Introduction to Marketing
- Business Communication
You will also study 8 optional units covering areas as diverse as accounting, law, team-working and business planning.
The method of teaching used on the course is similar to university so it is an ideal preparation for entry.
If you want to enter employment you will gain many skills such as accounting, team working, and communication.
This makes you a more attractive candidate to prospective employers.
You will also develop your skills in Maths and English.
You need to be 16 years of age or over and have either of the following qualifications below:
A minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade C or above including Mathematics and/or English or equivalent.
Students should have a genuine interest in Business, a commitment to complete homework and project work on time and the ability to communicate and demonstrate socially acceptable behaviour in College.
You will be assessed continually by assignments and practical activities, including presentations, and project work. These are externally moderated by the examination body.
As the course is equivalent to 2 A levels, the majority of students progress on to a degree or foundation degree in subjects such as business, marketing, IT or law.
Alternatively, you could enter employment in various areas of business such as accounts, marketing, local government and other public sector organisations.
