Level 2 Public Services Diploma - Teamwork & Development in the Community at Leeds City College
This is the course for you if you want to work in the Police Service, Fire Service, Ambulance Service or the Armed Forces such as the Army, Navy, Royal Marines or Air Force or simply wish to work in the community.
Our level 2 courses are also for those who are thinking of progressing onto one of our Higher Level 3 courses to gain access to University. There is a balance of practical and academic work with lots of opportunities for offsite visits and activities to enrich the course. We offer opportunities to work with the Police and Fire service for work experience trips in Finland and Slovenia and outdoor and adventurous activities.

- You will learn about different careers and roles that you can follow and the steps you will need to achieve your career goals as well as the skills needed to compete in any modern working environment such as self-directedness and resilience
You will benefit from meeting people currently working in the emergency services and armed forces and have opportunities for work experience alongside the Police and Fire service as well as develop the skills and personal attributes you need to succeed in the public services
A minimum of 4 GCSE's at grade 3 including English and/or ideally Maths or equivalent (eg Level 1 Functional Skills), NVQ1 or satisfactory completion of a Foundation Learning programme at Level 1 with a minimum of 37 credits.
All candidates must have a genuine interest in working in the emergency services or armed forces, be prepared to participate in physical activities, work in a team, overcome personal challenges and have an enthusiastic approach to learning.
If you are under 19 and you do not already have English & Maths GCSE grades 4-9 or equivalent you will be required to undertake GCSE or Functional Skills alongside your main qualification.

As part of your coursework you will submit evidence of your learning. Evidence will include videos, presentations, practical demonstrations, website design, online questionnaires and written work
Advice on careers and further study will be given during the course. After successful completion of the course students may seek employment or an apprenticeship in the public sector or apply for a level 3 course in Public Services.
