Spanish A Level at Burford School and Community College

Course description

This course will inspire and give you the skills you need whether it is as a stepping stone to university or to enhance your career or travel prospects. You will be using Spanish independently for a range of purposes and you will deepen your understanding of the Spanish and its culture. This course will encourage your motivation by appealing to a wide range of students’ interests, with a variety of popular topics, texts and films all linked to the culture of the Spanish communities.

Course content

You will study four themes in the two years:
 
Theme 1: Social issues and trends: Evolving society in Spain:
Changing family structures/Impact of tourism/The world of work
Theme 2: Political, intellectual and artistic culture in the Spanish speaking world:
Music, media and festivals and traditions
Theme 3: Social issues and trends: Immigration and the Spanish multicultural society:
Integration and multiculturalism, historical and contemporary immigration
Theme 4: Political, intellectual, and artistic culture:
The Franco dictatorship and transition to democracy

Entry requirements

Grade 6 in GCSE Spanish.
