Business Studies AS/A level at Rosedale College

Course description

This course is for students who wish to get a greater understanding of how business work and what role stakeholders play in the development and success of a business. There is also a strong emphasis on the wider economic and social development as well as technological and ethical issues. It is good for any finance related degree or later professional qualification.

Course content

The course will explore and develop the following topics of interest: AS LEVEL BUSINESS Defining business activity Managers leadership and decision making Decision making to improve marketing performance Decision making to improve operational performance Decision making to improve financial performance Decision making to improve human resource performance A LEVEL BUSINESS Analysing the strategic position of a business Choosing strategic direction Strategic methods: How to pursue strategies Managing strategic change.

Entry requirements

Students must have achieved a minimum of 5 A*- C grades or the equivalent at GCSE, including a grade B in GCSE English and Mathematics.

Assessment

AS LEVEL BUSINESS Two written examinations A LEVEL BUSINESS Three written examinations

Future opportunities

There are a range of pathways into the Business profession, work based, vocational or graduate entry. Such pathways include, Accounting and Finance, Marketing, Operations Management and Human Resource Management. Once you have completed one of these pathways, you will be able to pursue rewarding careers within Business and Accounting. Business Studies is also recognized as developing important lifelong skills.
