Art and Design BTEC level 3 (Extended Certificate, Diploma or Extended Diploma at Rosedale College
This course is designed as specialist qualifications for students who have a clear view of their future career in Art and Design or are seeking progression to higher education.
The core units studied are: Visual Recording and Communication Critical and Contextual Studies in Art and Design The Creative Process In addition to this, the units below are a sample of some of the optional units you could study: Developing an Art and Design Portfolio Materials, Techniques and Processes in Art and Design Managing a Client Brief Developing and Realising Creative Intentions.
Students must have achieved a minimum of 5 A*- C grades or the equivalent at GCSE, including a grade C in GCSE English and Mathematics. Students who have not studied Level 2 in Art and Design before, will be required to produce a portfolio which will be assessed upon entry.
The new BTEC Nationals in Art and Design use a combination of assessment styles to give students confidence they can apply their knowledge to succeed in the workplace and have the study skills to continue learning throughout their career. There are two different ways the course is assessed as of 2016: ASSIGNMENTS - this is where students complete a series of tasks set in a work-related scenario which is set and marked by The Rosedale Hewens Academy Trust. TASKS - students complete in controlled conditions, some tasks are set and externally marked by Pearson.
There are many options available to school leavers: further education, vocational degrees and apprenticeships and jobs that offer workplace learning. If you are not sure about the path you wish to take, the flexibility of BTEC Art and Design makes it a good choice, as it offers useful practical experience as well as a recognised qualification.
