Course description

This course is suitable for students who are interested in progressing their career in Hospitality Management, catering and extend their career in the hospitality industry.

Course content

The core units studied are: - The Hospitality Industry Principles of Supervising Customer Service performance in Hospitality, Leisure, Travel and Tourism. - Providing Customer Service in Hospitality In addition to this, the units below are a sample of some of the optional units you could study: Food Service Organisation; European Food; Contemporary World Food; Planning and Managing a Hospitality Event.

Entry requirements

Students must have achieved a minimum of 5 A*- C grades or the equivalent at GCSE, including a grade C in GCSE English and Mathematics.


Assessment for the BTEC in Hospitality is criterion referenced. Each unit is marked through assignments - this is where students complete a series of tasks set in a work- related scenario which is marked by The Rosedale Hewens Academy Trust. A unit grade can then be awarded at Pass, Merit or Distinction.

Future opportunities

The qualifications provide career development opportunities to higher education, degree and professional development programmes within the same or related areas of study, within universities and other institutions. There is also scope for apprenticeships and work based experience.
