Photography GCSE at East Sussex College
This is a practical course divided into two units. On this course you will undertake three practical projects where you will learn about different aspects of photography using both film based and digital technology. You will learn how to shoot, process and print photographic film as well as develop some picture editing skills in Photoshop. You will explore composition, visual communication and develop your ability to analyse what makes images effective.
You will need to meet our standard entry requirements.
There are no subject specific entry criteria for this course.
There is both coursework (60% of total marks), and an externally set examination (40% of total marks).All The work is marked internally and then moderated by the Examination board.Coursework can take various forms but students are directed to produce a portfolio of practical work according to set assignment briefs.The Examination is also practical but the themes/starting points or question,are set by the examining board.
If you have completed the course successfully and have achieved a range of five GCSEs at grade C or above you may apply for the A level Photography course or other A Level course. Alternatively you may wish to use your portfolio as evidence of your skills and experience when applying for a job.
This course is part of a mixed programme; you will take other subjects too.
