Sport BTEC Level 2 at St Mary's CE High School

Course description

Two externally marked written examinations
Unit 01 ‐ Physical activity, health and wellbeing
Unit 02 ‐ Physical preparation and readiness for sport and physical activity
 
There are another six units that are assignment based:
Unit 03 ‐ Inclusivity, equality and diversity in delivering sport and physical activity
Unit 04 ‐ Leading sport and physical activity sessions
Unit 05 ‐ Customer service in sport and physical activity
Unit 06 ‐ Components and principles of fitness training for sport and physical activity
Unit 07 ‐ Practical sport
Unit 08 ‐ Assisting sports coaching

Entry requirements

Students must have at least a 1 GCSE grade 9‐4 or equivalent. It will be advantageous if students have studied either GCSE PE or BTEC Sport Level 2 previously, but this is not mandatory

Students with follow the Assistant Sports Coach Pathway and will eventually be leading primary school children in the local area.

Assessment

25% of the course is exam based and the 75% is assignment based. Units 1 and 2
are assessed by examination and marked by the exam board. Units 1 and 2 can be
resat once before the end of the qualification. The other six units are assignment based
and moderated by the exam board.
