Hair Diploma Level 1 at Canterbury College Not

Course description

This course will allow learners to explore the hair and beauty industry and gain the basic knowledge to progress onto a level 2 hair, beauty or TMM course.

Course content

Units covered will be the following:

  • introduction to the hair and beauty sector
  • presenting a professional image in a salon
  • health and safety in a salon
  • shampoo and conditioning
  • plaiting and Twisting hair
  • themed face painting
  • basic make up application
  • salon reception duties
  • styling women‘s hair
  • styling men‘s hair
  • working as a team
  • interview skills
  • working in a customer friendly way

These units are subject to change due to the nature of the Gateway qualification.

You will also have the opportunity to take part in hair related trips throughout the year and gain extra qualifications, such as ear piercing and other mini courses.

You will also gain knowledge from guest speakers and will need to completed work experience throughout the year to gain confidence.

Entry requirements

No formal qualifications.

Assessment

You will be assessed by practical assessments and completing theory assignments and workbooks.

Future opportunities

Progression onto a level 2 hair, barbering, beauty or TMM course.
