Fine Art A Level at Queensbury Academy

Course description

Year 12 and 13: Art at A-Level encourages students to think about using art as a platform for their ideas. They will generate their own responses to being political artists in which they challenge issues that they feel strongly about. These will be contextualised with the work of other artists and thinkers from a wide variety of back-
grounds. The realisation of their project will be executed on an A1 canvas using mixed media. You will be encouraged to think in depth and critically about your response, which will also be the basis for a 3000 word essay.

Externally Set Exam Unit
Personal Study

Entry requirements

Grade 4 or above in Art if studied at GCSE.

Art is a visual/conceptual driver within society. It defines and manipulates meanings and signifiers through the interaction of cultures across a plethora of interactive communication platforms and exhibitions. It can also be the basis for a stimulating career within a number of professions including; Curator, Lecturer, Graphic Design-
er, Fashion designer/journalist, project manager, teacher, web designer etc.
