Law A Level at Queensbury Academy

Course description

The Law course covers a variety of topics ranging from Law making to Murder, to give students a breadth of knowledge. Studying Law gives students an understanding of the role of Law in today's society and raises their awareness of the rights and responsibilities of individuals. Students will be assessed through a combination of coursework and external assessments.

The nature of law and the English legal system
Criminal law
 
Year 13:
Tort
One of:
Law of contract
Human rights

Entry requirements

Grade 5 or higher in GCSE English Language or Literature.

Future opportunities

Law is an excellent subject to take in to higher education. By learning about legal rules and how and why they apply to real life, students also develop their analytical ability, decision making, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. All these skills are highly sought after by higher education and employers. This can progress on to University degrees in and around the subject of Law as well as a pathway into law based
apprenticeship.
