Product(3D) Design A Level at Queensbury Academy

Course description

A Level Art 3D encourages students to think about using art as a platform for their ideas. They will generate their own responses in 2D and 3D based on the theme of apocalyptic dystopia. Students will be contextualising their work with other artists and thinkers from a wide variety of backgrounds . The realisation of their project will be executed through the exploration of 3D outcomes. Students will be encouraged to think in depth and critically about their responses, which will also be the basis for a 3000 word essay.

Year 12 and 13
 
Mood boards
Artist research
Sculpting techniques
Casting techniques
Carving techniques
Photoshop techniques
Traditional and modern 3D techniques
Ceramic and sculpture projects

Students will also explore a range of 2D techniques including printmaking, painting and observational
drawing.
 
External set project

Entry requirements

Grade 4 or better in an Art or Technology subject.

Future opportunities

This course will allow students to leave with an excellent understanding of Three - dimensional design, and a huge variety of craft techniques that will form a varied portfolio to take into higher education. Students who study Three-dimensional design at A-level will be competent in designing, making, independent working, problem solving, working with clients and effectively working to deadlines.
