Creative Computing at The EDGE School of Creative and Business - Level 3 at East Kent College
Perfect if you wish to develop a working knowledge of creative coding, web and app design and video.
You’ll learn the principals of computer science and apply them in a range of business, web and creative industry context. You will work on projects including developing a social media campaign, producing a website and app for a client and developing I.T.
infrastructures for businesses.
On successful completion of this you will be able to study at a higher level on one of our HNC programmes or at university, alternatively you could progress into employment within the IT, Creative or Business sector.
You will undertake a range of creative projects to develop skills in coding, app design, web design and video. This is a hands on creative computing course in which you will work with programmable devices such as the Arduino and Raspberry Pi and a variety of sensors to generate interactions.
You will need a minimum of five GCSEs at C grades or equivalent, including maths and English. Students may be able to progress from a Level 2 vocationally related programme.
Assessment will be through a combination or practical, written, and presentation assignments. This is a mainly practical programme with written work as supporting evidence, and assessments based on practical work skills.
If you are 16-18yrs old at the start of the Study Programme, it will be free. There may be additional payments required for trips, visits and other materials. For adult learners (over 19) financial support towards the costs of your Study Programme may be available. Eligible students may be able to get help with course related costs such as travel, equipment and childcare.

We offer this course as a one year Diploma or two year Extended Diploma, equivalent to three A Levels. On successful completion you could gain employment within the computing industry, alternatively you could choose to work in a freelance capacity. If you choose to continue your education you could progress on to a higher education course at either college or university.
