Uniformed Public Services Diploma Level 3 at Sittingbourne Technical College

Course description

This qualification is targeted at learners who would like to gain employment in the public services sector and will raise awareness of the opportunities within this sector. The course will develop learners‘ abilities through the knowledge and skills gained during the study programme and are suitable for learners who would like to know more and gain further experience opportunities in uniformed or non-uniformed public services.

Course content

During the year you will cover the following unit content: Government Policies and the Public Services, Leadership and Teamwork, Citizenship, Diversity and Public Services, Discipline in Uniformed Public Services, Impact of War Conflict and Terrorism in Public Services, Behaviour in Public Services and Preparation, Fitness and Lifestyle for Public Service.

Entry requirements

4 Cs or 4s including English and maths.


Assessment will be undertaken through a range of assignments, group and team work, simulations, performance observations, demonstrating work skills, work experience and social action opportunities. All are graded as Pass, Merit or Distinction.

Future opportunities

Employment as a Police Officer, Police Community Support Officer, Firefighter, Coastguard, Paramedic, Prison Officer, Probation Officer, Careers in the Armed Forces. Alternatively, learners may wish to progress onto a Uniformed and Public Services Foundation Degree, BSc (Hons) Armed Forces, BSc (Hons) Policing and Intelligence, BSc (Hons) Aviation Fire and Rescue, BSc (Hons) Fire and Rescue or the BA (Hons) Public Service.
