Joinery - Bench Levels 3 and 3 Apprenticeship at Bradford College

Course description

Apprenticeships give you the opportunity to learn and train in your chosen career as well as earning a regular pay packet. You will be given first-hand experience and learn the majority of the skills needed on the job, whilst also completing off-the-job training.

This apprenticeship is for those who like working with timber and creating things with a hands-on approach. Bench joinery apprentices are based in a workshop and produce timber products such as doors, window frames, staircases and cabinets. They use traditional woodworking tools as well as specialised power or hand tools for cutting, shaping, smoothing and finishing.

Course content

Typical tasks:

  • Making and assembling frames windows, doors and stairs
  • Marking out and cutting joints
  • Calculating and costing materials.

You will be required to study on a day release basis.

Entry requirements

Level 2:

GCSE English and Mathematics at a minimum of Grade C/4 or Entry 3 on the Literacy and Numeracy BKSB.

Level 3:

GCSE English and Mathematics at a minimum of Grade C/4 or Level 1 on the Literacy and Numeracy BKSB.
