Level 2 Digital Games Production Diploma at Leeds City College

Course description

If you have a real passion for playing video games, you may not fully appreciate the work that goes into creating those scenes. This course will provide you with the knowledge and skills to appreciate the effort required to develop and create the computer games you love so much!

This course is for you if you are interested in games and software development including programming, 3D Modelling, 3D Animation and graphics. You will develop your skills in using a range of software and programming languages.

Course content

You will learn about the following:

•Image manipulation and digital painting techniques for computer games
•Video production and editing 3D modelling and animation concept art
•Games testing
•Sound production
•Flash game production
•Developing games for mobile devices

Entry requirements

Students need one of the following: 5 GCSEs C or above including English Language A level 2 First Diploma at Merit or above including GCSE English Language at C or above or a level 2 Functional Skill in English

Students should:
•Be able to communicate ideas and opinions in a spoken, written and visual context
•Be confident with computers
•Be able to work as an individual and as part of a team
•Be able to organise themselves and work to deadlines

Assessment

All the programme units are assignment based (both practical and written).
