Beauty Therapy Studies Diploma Level 3 at The Manchester College

Course description

Designed for those who already has a good understanding of beauty therapy skills, this Level 3 Diploma will help you advance your knowledge and expertise with a range of specialist techniques. You’ll get to explore all the products and equipment used in a modern beauty salon, studying mandatory units that focus on facial electrotherapy, body electrotherapy and body massage. You will also continue to develop an essential understanding of how to care for clients in this industry and how to ensure health and safety is followed in the salon. As part of the Diploma in Beauty Therapy Studies, you’ll also need to take at least one additional unit with 8 credits. You’ll have a number of options to choose from here, ranging from the skills required for Indian head massages, to the techniques needed for intimate waxing for both male and female clients. You could also look at micro dermabrasion, stone therapy or electrical epilation, depending on your interests.


To enrol on this Level 3 Beauty Therapy Studies Diploma, you’ll need to have at least three GSCEs at grades A*-C, including both English and a creative GCSE. Financial information

Throughout the duration of this course, you’ll be assessed in a number of different ways, including regular practical and written work, written tests, assignments and practical observations. You’ll build up a portfolio of evidence (that will include pre-observations and final tests) and take part in a work placement to gain relevant industry experience.

Further information

You’ll have a full Level 3 qualification in Beauty Therapy Studies at the end of this course, with a wide-ranging knowledge that will enable you to take up one of a number of different roles in the Hair and Beauty industry. You could focus on some of the specialist skills and techniques you’ve learnt, or work as a general beauty therapist in a salon.       Northenden is a suburb of south Manchester. There are shops, a supermarket, restaurants and takeaways 15 minutes’ walk from the campus in central Northenden. There are also a small supermarket and shops closer to the campus. Northenden is surrounded by green space. The campus is minutes away from Gib Lane Wood and Wythenshawe Park which includes a community farm. It is also close to the Mersey Valley nature reserve; a riverside walk through miles of countryside and parkland.
