Level 2 Certificate in Patisserie & Bakery Tech Certificate 2 at The Manchester College

Course description

If you have a passion for baking or already work in hospitality and want to develop your skills in patisserie and artisanal baking then this course is for you. The course will give you the skills to create desserts, patisseries, work with chocolate, learn the techniques of artisanal baking, as well as help develop your skills beyond the kitchen in planning, preparation, calculating costs and health and safety.

You’ll be assessed through a variety of practical and written assessments giving you the opportunity to demonstrate the skills you have developed.

Further information

Once you’ve completed this Level 2 course you’ll have the opportunity to progress onto a Level 3 qualification in either Advanced Professional Cookery or Professional Patisserie and Confectionery, or move into work in the hospitality industry.All these skills will help you to excel in a career in the hospitality and catering industry. You may find yourself working in hotels and restaurants, or even running your own professional kitchen or bakery.

    • Wythenshawe Campus was opened in 2010 and offers a wide range of courses for school leavers and adults, including construction and motor vehicle. The campus is built to be environmentally friendly and has innovative technology to save energy and re-use resources. These include solar panels, wind catchers for natural ventilation and rainwater harvesting tanks.

      Local area

      Wythenshawe is a suburb of south Manchester. Wythenshawe Campus is built in the centre of the community, 15 minutes’ walk from the civic centre. The campus has it own gardens and places to sit outside, while Wythenshawe itself has several large parks and woodlands. The civic centre has a supermarket, shops, post office and fast food chains and there are some smaller shops opposite the campus. The campus is just over two miles from Wythenshawe Park; a beautiful green space with community farm and historic buildings.
