Engineering (Mechanical) Level 2 at Sittingbourne Technical College

Course description

Building on the skills gained at Level 1, you'll develop your knowledge and experience in:

Working in engineering
Principals of engineering technology
Principals of manufacturing technology
Machining component
Milling and turning techniques

You can expect to spend 50% of your time in the workshop developing fabrication and welding skills and techniques, supported by classroom delivery of the underpinning knowledge required to work in the industry and evidence your learning.


Course content

Your programme will also include English and Maths delivered at a level to suit your existing qualifications, and a work experience placement.

As well as discovering engineering in the classroom, our links with local businesses will give you the opportunity to see how these services operate.


This programme is assessed through a combination of written and practical tasks completed on-site in our workshops, including end-of-unit examinations.
