Sociology at Outwood Academy Valley

Course description

Sociology is challenging and an exciting subject. Sociology observes the everyday experiences of people in groups and seeks to explain the patterns it uncovers. It also charts social trends which may help us to understand the dilemmas of modern life.

The sociology course covers a range of topics like families and households: changing relationships and developments in childhood. Education and research methods: where we investifgate social class and educational achievement. Religion involves investigating the nature and impact of religion in the modern world. Crime and deviance: where we examiine the nature of both criminals and victims.

Entry requirements

As a guide, the minimum entry requirement is 5A*-C grades at GCSE or equivalent.
