Music A Level at Caedmon College Whitby

Course description

Music will allow you to develop your artistic and creative skills, and improve your appreciation of music of all types. This is a demanding course and well respected by Russell Group universities and employers alike. Music is for students who like the idea of writing their own music – popular song, rock styles, classical, world music, jazz, theme and variation, etc. It involves listening to and analysing a wide variety of classical, jazz and modern styles.

There are lots of opportunity in College for students to develop their confidence and experience in performing and composing. All A-level Music students receive a funded instrumental lesson as part of the course.


Performance: 30%; Composing: 30%; Listening and Writing: 40%

Future opportunities

Music degrees can lead to occupations in teaching, publishing, TV and radio production, music therapy, Arts administration, PR work, and media promotions.
