Childcare and Education Diploma - Level 3 at Northallerton College

Course description

The diploma is a two-year qualification equivalent to 3 A levels, which prepares the students to work with children and their families in a range of settings. Students will gain knowledge in a variety of ways about child development, approaches to play and learning and how legislation protects individuals. Students will be on work placement for two days to gain practical experience.

Entry requirements

Students ideally require 4 GCSEs grades A-C, (including English grade 4 or above). They should have experience of working with children.


You are assessed through course work, observations and written assessments, working independently and in groups. Feed back is provided regularly and one to one student support meetings offered. You will experience a wide range of teaching and learning styles, which encourage you to become an independent leamer.

Future opportunities

For students wishing to continue onto higher education, cache level three offers them the oppodunity to progress onto level four cache foundation degree, BA Hon childhood studies or health and social care.
