Business Studies Level 3 BTEC Subsidiary Diploma at Lincoln Christ's Hospital School

Course description

This Level 3 vocational course is designed to give students a practical and real-world understanding of the essential knowledge and skills needed to progress in to a broad range of business careers. Alternatively, students may use the course as a basis for higher level study. The successful completion of three units during the first year leads to BTEC Level 3 Certificate in Business, a qualification broadly equivalent to one GCE AS Level. The successful completion of three further units during the second year leads to the award of a BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Business, a qualification broadly equivalent to a single GCE A Level at grades A* - E.

 

COURSE CONTENT

Units studied in the first year focus on the basic structure of organisations, how resources may be managed effectively, and how marketing can be used to ensure business objectives are met. In the second year of the course students learn about effective staff recruitment and retention, financial accounting and the increasing role of the internet and e-business.

Entry requirements

Completion of a BTEC First in Business or similar Level 2 course, GCSE English Grade A* - C and an interest in the subject

Future opportunities

The course provides progression to employment or higher level study in business related subjects.
