This is a professional course preparing you for work in the health
and social care field or for further study at advanced level. You
will study 8 Professional Units - Communication in Health and
Social Care, Individual Rights in Health and Social Care, Individual
Needs,Ensuring Safe Environments - and 4 Optional Units from
Anatomy and Physiology, Human Lifespan Development, Health and
Social Care Services, The Impact of Diet on Health.

Course content

This is a professional course preparing you for work in the health
and social care field or for further study at advanced level. You
will study 8 Professional Units - Communication in Health and
Social Care, Individual Rights in Health and Social Care, Individual
Needs,Ensuring Safe Environments - and 4 Optional Units from
Anatomy and Physiology, Human Lifespan Development, Health and
Social Care Services, The Impact of Diet on Health.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs at D or above including English

Assessment

Assessment is both internally and externally assessed with two
external exams.

Future opportunities

Apprenticeship in Health and Social care, Employment in a health or
social care setting may be possible.

Further information

You will attend college 3 days per week. There is an opportunity to
explore Health and Social Care careers through visits and visiting
speakers. You will have the opportunity to complete a period of work
placement towards the end of the course and you will be required to
complete a DBS check.
 
Further Study
Successful completion of the BTEC Level 2 Diploma at Distinction
and a C grade in English or above will allow progression onto
the Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care subject to a good
attendance and tutor report.
